Race for the Cure

  • Large board is needed for Race for the Cure

Is there an easier way to gather results at end other than using a board?  Is there new technology that the club could invest in?

Actions

  1. Develop 5k SOP from info from Kurt, Gene, and Lorraine. (Nancy)
  2. Make sure large board is in storage shed. (Nancy)
  3. Contact Active.com to see if reduced fee for WGRC members upon signup could happen.  Also see if active.com can have an option for people to become members and sign up for race at the same time.  (Mollie)
  4. Make sure that only 1 board is needed for Race for Cure (Nancy with Lorraine)

Marathon

Sponsorship

  • Proposal from Mark as starting point to approach local businesses.  Review info and give inputs to Mark by 4/28/06
  • Place sponsorship logos on registration bag instead of shirts.  Place marathon logo on one side of bag, and sponsor logos on the other
  • Possible sponsorship of hot/cool cloths for runners crossing finish.
  • Sponsorship to sell water tables, relay exchange points advertising rights.  Can be as proactive as they want—shirts, food, refreshments to staff at stations
  • Could sell sponsorship of expo
  • Should approach local massage therapists, chiropractors that could be interested in sponsoring race
  • Consider a level between platinum and elite for more $2000-2500 sponsors—perhaps the bag sponsor
  • Watchouts

o       don’t sell sponsorship of merchandise we’re not budgeted to buy—if not enough sponsors we end up eating the costs

o       Embroidery of logos on shirts is expensive!

o       Mark is point of contact on sponsorship marketing.  Please check with Mark before approaching a business as we don’t want to get too many people talking to the same business.

·        Will revamp links on marathon website in which local businesses are called ‘official _______’ of marathon, without any sponsorship money

·        Provide demographics/market info to local businesses when approaching them for sponsorship

Medals

  • Glass medals with silver ribbons to highlight sliver anniversary.  Silver ribbon with black or magenta script is proposed.

Memorabilia

  • Ask Don Rubin to head up memorabilia committee
  • Have ‘vintage’ sale of old wineglass marathon inventory (tee-shirts, etc)

Pasta Party

  • Local restaurants do not have capacity to handle additional customers
  • Civic center is a possibility—ice rink w/ no ice.  Need to determine capacity.
    • If cold weather, it’s not enclosed
  • Other options—senior center, union hall, Radisson conference room, tent in Riverfront Park
  • If done in Riverfront Park with DeClemente catering, Corning Enterprises will pay for tent.  Will pay for tables and chairs in civic center.

Tents

  • Kurt DeClemente may be able to get us a better deal on tents.

Timing and Scoring

  • Mark to follow up

Registration Packets

  • Need group to pull together packets.  Need to contact Les Rosenbloom.  If Les not available, need to find another leader and group to do this.
